After strucker was killed by ultron and hydra was reduced to mere cells Eric decided to exact revenge on stark and after ultron was destroyed he infiltrated the tower ready to kill when hawk eye and captain America showed up and reaper battled them but his scythe made him too tough and he than found what he sought iron man appeared and challenged him to a fight but he easily over whelms him saying he shouldn't have created ultron which sends tony in a bad mode and he and the others resume fighting him when his scythe was destroyed by stark repulsor blast he tried to escape but was than knocked out by Steve sheild before calling shield to pick him up and grim reaper was placed in the vault along with other hydra agents. He was then recruited into the organization where he underwent a number of cybernetic changes mainly the scythe on his right arm and took the name Grim Reaper. HYDRA took a interest in Eric's skills and saw potential in him. He later got into petty crime and moved up in the Mob, but in the end the mob didn't fit Eric's destructive urges, and so he wanted to move on to something bigger.
